I am a friendly, fully qualified, registered, insured and experienced Careers Guidance Practitioner or Careers Adviser. I work with students aged 14-25 (year 8/9- graduates) from my home office in person, online or by phone- supporting students through a range of early careers questions and dilemmas.
How do students benefit?
Year 8/9 - careers interest profiling which helps with choosing GCSE Options.
Years 10-13: gaining an understanding of their innate skills and most importantly which careers map to these- via aptitude and careers interest evaluations and discussions.
Year 11- support in prioritizing between multiple A levels/ BTEC ideas with an eye on Degrees/Degree Level Apprenticeship ideas.
Year 12/13- reviewing which universities to visit, summer residentials to attend, and understanding careers/degrees/degree level apprenticeships.
Year 13- support with university and course choices, UCAS Personal Statements, Oxbridge and Russell Groups and professional support for Degree Level Apprenticeship applicants (CV support, interview practise, assessment centres).
Undergraduates- helping students identify great paid vacation internship opportunities whilst in their first or second year at university.
Graduate job search - supporting both 3rd year finalists through the 'milkround' and also those graduated to apply, prepare for and win graduate roles. Coaching them through the joy of assessment centres and ability testing!
Please contact me informally for more information on support for any of the above-and any other related questions. Do note, students usually only need one or possibly two careers tutoring sessions each year. This is as we discuss all ideas fully, and complete psychometric evaluations. Then students go away with some homework to complete which is designed to help them with their decision making. I can see them as often as they wish - some only need 1 session however.
Using an impartial, qualified Careers Adviser as a family means your sons or daughters can be supported through complex early decisions (from school through to graduation). Parents can feel reassured their students have been helped to fully explore all the amazing opportunities that could suit them, at each academic stage.
18 years’ experience in the careers field and an international corporate career in HR, Career Management, Outplacement, Recruitment and Head hunting.
Fully qualified to Level 7 (Masters) in Careers Guidance and on the CDI Register of Careers Professionals. Fully insured and with Advanced Safeguarding Cert.
Qualified in Careers Psychometric Testing via BPS (British Psychological Society).
Booked weekly to work in Hampshire state and private schools - 1:1 with students in years 10, 11, 12 and 13.
School based: I usually see 400-500 school students per year.
I have worked privately with current/past students at many schools including Eton, Winchester College, Sherfield, The Alton School, LWC, Claremont Fan, Amery Hill, Perins and Alton College, Peter Symonds.
Private students are all ages – at school, college, or university or graduates. I speak with students either in person from my home office, online or mobile whichever suits them best.
Friendly, empathetic, motivational, aspirational – helping students to get excited about, and feel reassured by, lots of fantastic opportunities that feel like them! Students can see why it is important to work hard at school – and see the direct link to where their hard work could take them. We do talk about lifestyles and how to achieve a career in something you love, whilst earning enough to gain financial independence.
I tend to see each student once or twice a year - and over a number of years- which is lovely! I work with many families, often supporting all the siblings – which means I can get to know families and suggest some exciting ideas for students- ahead of time – for example interesting summer schools, university residential tasters, sponsorship programs and interesting subject lectures.
