Online Maths and English Teacher

I offer tutoring in Psychology, English and Maths. With ten years 1-1 teaching experience across academic and practical subjects, I am a teacher at heart rather than simply an expert in my own field. I build rapport, adapt my style to the individual and help students utilise their strengths.

Tutoring Experience

Ten years 1-1 teaching experience to A-level including working with young people with specific needs such as autism, dyslexia and ADHD.
Private educational clinic experience - assessing and 1-1 teaching of reading, writing, comprehension and maths (Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes).

Tutoring Approach

The core of my teaching approach is to help students build confidence in their knowledge and writing technique, and to ignite passion for the subject. Drawing on a wealth of experience, I tailor lessons to fit the student's individual learning style. Using my psychology degree and private educational clinic experience, I teach students not only their subject matter, but powerful learning techniques to make exam preparation more efficient and engaging. These techniques can of course be applied to the student's other subjects. Lessons are structured with varying levels of challenge and different activities to keep the lesson positive and focussed.
I stay up to date with marking criteria specified by exam boards to ensure students are preparing in the best possible way for their exams.
Lessons always conclude with a clear plan of what to do next, and where appropriate, a debrief for parents/carers so that the student continues to be supported between lessons.
