I am an energetic and enthusiastic person and engage very well also with children (I have an up-to-date CRB check/DBS certificate). I have achieved the ABRSM grade 8 in piano and grade 6 in theory of music. In addition, I have completed a Piano Diploma at the Conservatoire “Arturo Toscanini” in Ribera, Italy. As a PhD, dissertation and research projects have taught me how to plan my time effectively and use resources in the most efficient way. I have opted to take some Pedagogy courses, in particular piano courses, such as the Practical and Theoretical Piano Pedagogy courses at the School of Music "Donna Olimpia" in Rome; these courses helped me to understand different piano/keyboard methodologies such as Orff, Alfred, Suzuki, Kòdaly and so on that provide musical notions as well as repertoires at different stages of learning. Some of these piano methods can be also used to the study of the keyboard.
I have 6 years experience of teaching piano to children and adults at all levels, preparing students for national examinations (Trinity and ABRSM) from initial to grade 8. In addition, I have had experience of teaching at school through the work placement at "Roman Road" Primary school in London provided by the ECaM training programme that I successfully completed in 2014. Currently, I am a PhD tutor working in different high schools in North London (I have an up-to-date CRB check/DBS certificate).
I like using colourful notations and playful musical themes that give children an attractive visual approach to the musical learning process. For adults learners I adopt several strategies of learning depending on the learners' level and preferences. My strength in IT skills enable me to make a creative use of colour and graphics to enhance the presentation of the songs in order to make learners immediately interested and keen to learn new pieces of music. My knowledge of ethnomusicology enables me to introduce new repertoires belonging to different musical traditions and not only classical music if learners like.
I usually give lessons at the tutees' house. So it is important that they have their own piano or keyboard at home.
