I am a trained teacher (PGCE) and Lecturer at the University of Kent. I am also a certified Higher Education Academy Fellow. I have extensive experience and in-depth subject knowledge in Chemistry, Biology and Maths, having taught these subjects at all levels up to the university.
Patience and empathy are my best virtues and these combined with an in-depth understanding of Science and Maths define my unique approach to teaching. With a firm belief that all students are potentially A* achievers, I am deliberate at adapting my teaching style to work with the unique capabilities of each student to ensure meeting their academic goal, evident in outstanding results.
I am trained to teach, with professional recognition from the Higher Education Academy. I also have a PGCert in Teaching. My teaching experience is from diverse areas and levels. I have worked as a teaching assistant in various primary and secondary classes, keenly observing, participating in, and understudying highly qualified and experienced teachers. Throughout my PhD programme, I have taught modules to multiple groups of undergraduate students, most of whom have offered outstanding reviews and feedback on my teaching style.
Anyone can learn anything! Accepting that different pupils/students have different abilities and approaches to learning, I take time to understand the unique strengths of individual students and utilise their unique mode of learning to sustain their interest in the subject and motivation to excel. Some visualize better than others. Some are better at memorizing. Others are good hearers. Taking time to understand a student will help develop a highly effective and unique learning strategy for him or her to ensure the best use of the limited contact time thereby offering better value for money.
