I am a widely experienced educator and parent with a passionate belief that every child should have the opportunity to reach their full potential. I have a varied background and have travelled extensively before settling down to raise a family and develop my career in education. This has given me insight into different cultures and an appreciation that all children have a thirst to learn once their interest is sparked. I am currently studying for a doctorate in Social Anthropology.
Although my teaching qualification is in Geography I have a real love of Maths and Literature; this has given me successful track record in tutoring these subjects to GCSE level.
I have twelve years experience teaching at every level from Key Stage 1 up to Key Stage 5 as well as adult learners. I have taught large classes and small group settings in mainstream and selective state schools. I have 2 years experience teaching adult learners to GCSE level in English and Maths. I have 2 years experience working as a tutor of English and Maths to support children with additional needs on behalf of my local education authority. I teach both online and face-to-face in the client's home.
My teaching approach is tailored to the individual needs of the learner. I believe that good tutoring involves a partnership between tutor and learner, built on respect and understanding. I aim to make learning time interesting and fun. However, I have been described as firm but fair. I take time to identify any gaps in learning and then teach to the national curriculum. I am familiar with the GCSE syllabus for English Maths and Geography.
