After graduating from The University of Cambridge, I did my Maths PGCE and began teaching in Secondary schools in London for 8 years before transitioning to full time tutoring. My friendly, patient and enthusiastic approach allows me to quickly form relationships with students and break down complex mathematical concepts into easily digestible information. I love teaching maths and helping students to build up their confidence in maths and helping them to achieve their goals.
I have 9 years of experience teaching and tutoring Maths for students of all abilities from 11-18 years old.
I have worked in 3 Secondary schools in London, most recently as Head of Maths at an Outstanding Secondary School in Hackney. As Head of Maths my knowledge of the GCSE specification and exam techniques is extensive as I have trained my department on this. This is very useful for tutoring students as I am able to identify which parts of the course they need the most help with and what areas of their application may be hindering them when in comes to exams.
I specialise in both Foundation and Higher Maths GCSE courses having taught classes of students who have all achieved grades 8/9 for Higher and Foundation classes where all students have achieved the highest grade 5.
I have done private, in person, tuition in addition to full time teaching since 2018 and all my students have achieved or exceeded their target grades and felt very confident going into their exams. The past year I have exclusively focused on online tutoring and have continued to have success with students growing in confidence and continuing to study with me for 3+ years.
My tutoring approach is highly dependent on the student and their needs and each session is bespoke to the particular student at that point in time. This after all is the benefit of private tuition!
My approach is always centred around clarity and breaking down the topic into easily accessible chunks and building up from this. I always ensure students feel comfortable to ask questions and check for student's understanding frequently throughout the session so there is no room for misconceptions.
Once the topic has been grasped at its core I will then challenge students with more probing and complex problem solving questions to ensure they have a deep understanding of the topic and to work on their problem solving skills. Not only is this enjoyable and rewarding for the student when they answer difficult questions but it also ensures they are prepared for difficult exam questions when the time comes.
Book a session to see how we can work together in a style that completely suits you!
