I am a fully qualified Mathematics teacher who is currently Curriculum Leader in Maths at a secondary school in the local area. I have a degree from Manchester Metropolitan University and I completed my PGCE to teach mathematics through Edge Hill University. I have a masters in education which was also completed at Edge Hill University
I have taught and currently teach students of all abilities from Year 7 to Year 13. I have experience of taking students out of lessons for small group work and have experience of working one to one with students also. I have supported many students to successfully achieve up to and above their target grades over the last 7 years through tuition. I am experienced with the new GCSE syllabus and being an exam marker for one of the exam boards I understand what is required in the exam.
My approach to teaching and tutoring in general is to build confidence in a students mathematical ability and try to make them not afraid to try problems, this is to try to avoid the fear a lot of students have of getting things wrong and not be able to correct them. I try and make it relate as much as possible to goals the student may have and want to achieve post their qualifications. I believe by understanding the uses of what they are doing can motivate them to learn more.
