Tutoring Approach

Lessons are interactive, creative and dynamic with all tasks discussed and done together.
We plan and practise the skills in 7 & 11+, English Language and Literature 11 +, GCSE and A level questions and answers - to get up to speed quickly with assessment objectives and exam content snd sample questions.

I keep lessons dynamic, discussion based with bespoke and carefully selected exercises in reading and writing to help scaffold action based learning and cement newly acquired skills. The aim is always to engage the student to enjoy the subject and develop their confidence by learning in a fun, collaborative and productive way. I have a range of my own materials as well as examiner reports , mark schemes and exemplar answers to support developing higher grades. All depending on the individual student need and the subject.

My fee payment preference is in person at the first lesson in person in cash or monthly by BACS with a holding deposit. Cancellations can be re arranged with 48 hours notice and 24 hours due to seasonal holidays or other illness. Late cancellations less than 24 hours will be charged at full fee rate.

I listen to all my student needs and design lessons around their gaps and skill sets - and parent challenges, identify knowledge, skills and English gaps - then design each lesson in collaboration with the family or guardian by assessing individual student current and needed English and Essay writing needs and skills.
I create the practical exercises and tools to learn together - how to read for gist, meaning and detail - how to write from novels and comprehension texts - I craft each lesson according to entrance exams 7+/11/13+ as well as GCSE English Language and Literature

A level grades - Grade A achieved from U for entrance to LSE, B for Kingston Art School for Film & Imperial in long term regular 1-1 tuition.

Therefore, all sessions are bespoke and fully comprehensive. When needed, Parents are given a weekly and monthly task schedule for the 11-13 + English reading and writing with steps and goals that students can follow in order to catch up due to needing extra support for ADHD, dyslexia and Autism spectrum as well as ESOL English is a second language and bi-lingualism

The Study Timetable divides tasks and time management to ensure completion. This explorative and discovery learning approach is achieved by embedding dynamic exercises, on-line 11+ Bond assessments, research, accelerated study techniques for memory and homework completion.
Ongoing support for parents with timetabling and revision planning.
A particular focus on succeeding in exams by studying literacy, formal and classic literature forms of English in reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Training for entrance to the grammars /academies as well as Cambridge and Oxbridge university essays, interviews and exams.
Tutorials follow the Cambridge academic protocols, therefore focus on critical thinking, debate, and structuring exam essays into a logical and coherent argument.
- Students achieve scholarships with consistent practice and study

- Students with specific learning needs for Exam and English support in dyslexia, and ADHD are particularly welcome
- Specific academic materials developed for Nuero-Divergent learning styles and personal student preferences

My only prerequisite is that students do the homework of reading, planning and produce the writing that’s necessary for me to give meaningful editing feedback, because if they don’t produce the homework then writing is not graded and lessons lack consistency to ensure successful outcomes

The terms and conditions are all lessons must be paid in BACS advance or in cash on the day. Any cancellations less than 48 hours will be charged in full. However, I ask for 48 hours notice so we can rearrange absences when I have free slots.
