Online English Tuition

I am a part-time doctoral researcher specialising in twentieth century poetics and art history.

I have maintained a high performance during my academic studies and possess a clear understanding of the skills and attributes required to succeed at university from the point of application until the final assessments.

For my Bachelor’s degree in English, I was awarded a First and received the School of English Prize for highest-ranking finalist, the Mary Dove Prize for highest-ranking literature student and the prize for Best Contribution to Student Experience within the School of English.

For my Master’s degree in Childhood and Youth Studies, I was awarded a Distinction and received the Barrie Thorne Prize for Best Overall Academic Achievement.

Most recently, I have been awarded a Consortium for the Humanities and the Arts South-East England (CHASE) studentship, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), on the basis of my academic and professional abilities and the strength of my research proposal.

My pronouns are she/her.

Tutoring Experience

I have four years of experience as a private tutor in English Literature, essay-writing technique and Creative Writing. I have worked in a wide variety of environments including Primary Schools, High Schools and Pupil Referral Units, as well as tutoring remotely (both mature and school-age students).

Before undertaking doctoral study, I worked for two and a half years as an Editorial Assistant at an international academic publisher, and have two years of experience as a freelance Proofreader. This has given me an extensive knowledge of academic writing and supports my specialisation in university-level tutoring.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is underpinned by the belief that educators should provide opportunities for students to learn that their histories and experiences matter. I support students holistically as they undertake formal study and prepare for assessment, but also seek to enhance their engagement with art and culture broadly by developing their confidence and exploring their interests. I pride myself in being a responsive and committed tutor who appreciates a questioning approach among students.
