I'm a Politics student at the University of Glasgow, where I'm on track to graduate with a First-Class Honours degree, which I expect to complete by May 2026. Alongside my studies, I’ve developed a strong interest in education and have found tutoring to be one of the most rewarding experiences. I genuinely enjoy helping students grow in confidence, especially when they begin to see their own progress and develop pride in their achievements.

I am a warm, approachable, and encouraging tutor who believes that learning thrives in a supportive and positive environment. I take the time to get to know each student, building trust and tailoring my approach to suit their unique personality and learning style. My goal is always to help students feel confident, motivated, and capable. I love building these connections and seeing students grow not only academically, but also in self-belief.

I have a real passion for both English Literature and English Language, and I love finding ways to make these subjects come alive. From analysing poetry and classic novels to improving grammar, writing skills, and exam techniques, I work hard to make sure students not only understand the material but also enjoy the learning process. I’m committed to helping learners reach their goals and feel more confident in their abilities both in and out of the classroom.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring for two academic years, supporting a wide range of students in English Language and Literature. I studied English throughout secondary school, achieving an A at Advanced Higher level, and continued my studies at university, taking English Literature and Language courses during both my first and second years. In addition, I hold a Grade 6 qualification in Speech and Drama, which has further strengthened my communication and presentation skills.

I specialise in preparing students for National 5 and Higher English exams, and have successfully tutored over 20 students, with an average grade improvement of two bands. I place a strong emphasis on tailoring my teaching to each individual, and have experience working with students who have learning differences such as dyslexia and ADHD. My lessons are always adapted to meet the specific needs and learning styles of each student, ensuring they feel supported, confident, and motivated.

In addition to Scottish qualifications, I have experience tutoring students for GCSEs, A-levels, and earlier stages of education, offering flexible support across exam preparation and foundational learning.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is warm, patient, and highly individualised. I believe that a supportive and encouraging environment is essential for effective learning, especially when helping students build confidence in their abilities. Whether a student is struggling with a specific area or aiming to extend their skills, I make it a priority to ensure that every session feels positive, engaging, and productive.

I understand that every child learns differently, so my teaching is centred around tailored lesson plans and personalised activities that suit each student’s unique learning style. During our first few sessions, I take time to get to know the student’s strengths, areas for development, and personal learning preferences. This allows me to design lessons that not only target key skills but also keep the student motivated and invested in their progress.

My tutoring typically involves setting achievable goals and using a mix of explanations, practice, and feedback to build understanding. I regularly conduct and mark short assessments and practise exams to track progress, and I provide clear, constructive feedback to help students improve over time.

For students who face additional challenges, such as difficulty focusing, comprehension issues, or learning differences, I offer targeted strategies to support focus, retention, and clarity. I aim to build each student’s skills and self-belief, helping them feel more capable and prepared both in class and in exams.
