Currently a Head of Maths with a wealth of background including Mathematics consulting, improving exam results for bodies of students, mentoring and tutoring as well as leading on teaching and learning and training new and recently qualified teachers. My tutored students benefit from my current exam knowledge, quickly improve in confidence and improve their grades. I specialise in examination preparation and teaching to improve confidence in Mathematics; particularly where there is a need for catch up or acceleration for GCSE.

Tutoring Experience

17 years as a secondary Mathematics specialist including middle and senior leadership as well as consulting for Mathematics locally.
Experience of exam marking with 2 different Mathematics examination boards.
15 years of mentoring and tutoring experience from ages 9-19 towards examinations and experience with adult learners for Maths qualifications sought.

Tutoring Approach

I can build confidence and teach students skills to approach assessments.
I use step by step instructions and working through problem solving linked to content areas to develop understanding.
I organise sessions through collaborating with the needs of the student and any qualification that they are working towards to ensure that they are confident and competent and can reach their goal as well as build long term confidence with the subject.
I can support students with my rich expertise and acute knowledge of the subject and examination specifications.
My friendly and supportive approach to working with young people and adults means that time is spent well and students quickly feel positive about the progress that they are making.
I am able to offer small group sessions by request where goals and abilities are similar.
