I am a QT qualified tutor with over 10 years experience. I have also taught at colleges and university level.
Academic background:
I received a distinction in my masters at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where I studied Acting, specialising in Shakespeare and the Early Modern Period. Before this, I read English Literature and Language at University College London, which was ranked no.1 in the UK for that subject.
Over the past 10 years, I have worked with groups and one-on-one sessions teaching English Language, English Literature, Religious Education, Creative Writing, Spanish, History of Art, Media & Communication Studies, and Theatre Studies (ages 4-22).
My approach is entirely dependent on the student and I pride myself on being agile, friendly, and sensitive.
I generally prefer to begin by recapping on the last lesson, before moving onto a simple warm up exercise. I then spend around 40 minutes on the main task, with a five minute summation game. I strive to tailor my lessons to the pupil's interests and have found this to be very rewarding i.e. someone who does not like to analyse poetry may find analysing lyrics to their favourite song a nice and easy way in.
