I'm a patient, charismatic individual who is passionate about learning.
Life is all about learning and navigating people, places and problems, which psychology is all about! I find it incredibly rewarding to watch people grow and develop, achieving their best self - which is why I want to help shape the next generation of academics, philosophical thinkers and all those in-between.
During my time in University (before the pandemic) I ran a small, 2:1 or 3:1 tutoring group for statistics. Those that came to my sessions found my approach and explanations helpful and recommended my advice to their friends.
I also ran a weekly zoom session for my colleagues in my MSc Autism course, examining topics of interest and helping others with their research proposals - I want to change X, how am I going to do that?
For essay questions - I like to break things down and analyse what the question is asking in order to develop a comprehensive answer. From here, I invite the students to share their understanding of the question and find their stance on the topic. Using a PEE approach, I encourage students to create coherent arguments for, against and on neutral ground, to fully examine a question.
For mathematical and statistical questions - Breaking down an intimidating equation or problem is essential to understanding the answer. I believe guiding students on how to solve the problem will give them the confidence to tackle more difficult questions.
