Hi, I consider myself a practicing artist, designer and educator. I am passionate about inspiring other to engage in the creative arts in its widest sense , from enjoyment to working towards achieving accreditation.
I have been teaching ever since I graduated from my masters degree in 1999, as well as continuing to foster my own professional practice as an exhibiting artist.
I have recently move to the beautiful Moray coast in Scotland, and now find myself embarking on a new journey sharing my skills remotely and designing creative courses available to a much wider audience.
I have over 20 years experience of teaching both adults and young learners of all abilities within the school, adult education and art centre settings. For the last 10 years I have been head of department and been privileged to lead a team of creative teachers and shaping the curriculum for the learners to engage in.
Below is a not exhaustive list of the techniques and processes I use myself and have taught.
Traditional Media; Drawing, Painting - acrylics, oils, gouache, soft pastels, Ceramics; hand-built techniques, surface decoration; slips, oxides, glazes. Textiles; weaving, dying, batik, fabric construction. Printmaking; screen, etching, lithograph, relief printing. Mixed media. Dark room photography.
Digital Media; Digital DSLR Photography, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator and Procreate.
I am confident using both Apple and Microsoft products and VLE including; Zoom, Microsoft TEAMs, Google Classrooms.
My teaching will be remote (unless within a short travelling distance). I will plan series of lessons, which would include practical live follow along demonstrations as well as recorded material for students to review at their own pace. I would plan lessons around the learners needs, and would be happy to teach a range of disciplines or specialise on one or two skills.
I am happy to support the professional development side of being an artist, such as building a portfolio of work to approach a gallery or gain a place on an accredited course.
