I am an experienced tutor offering lessons in English and English Literature. I aim to help my students to develop a genuine enthusiasm for the subject, and to enjoy engaging with and writing texts. I help my students to understand what will be required of them when they sit examinations and to develop the necessary skills to achieve an excellent grade.
I have worked with a wide range of students on a one-to-one basis. My private students consistently improve their grades, and enjoyment of English. I have also worked one-to-one, and with small groups of students in both primary and secondary schools as a volunteer tutor.
Learning to understand texts and to communicate clearly is a crucial life skill. I work with my students to help them to improve their skills and enthusiasm for English. I am friendly and approachable, and lessons progress at the pace of the individual. My goal is always to help students to achieve their potential. A typical English language lesson might involve reading and annotating a text together, and then attempting to answer some exam style questions together. An English literature lesson might involve working on reading and understanding a longer text, discussing key characters and themes, and progressing to answer exam style questions. A lesson gives you the opportunity to focus on the aspects of English that you need to improve on.
