My experience with Helen is frustrating. She agreed to come and give my two daughters lessons and after the first class, she disappeared although she was completely aware of all my requirements. In that single class, I paid her although no lessons were given to my daughters. It was just an introductory class. However, FirstTutors promised me that I can use my payment to buy the details of another teacher.

In response to your comments, you paid me for the lesson that I came over to you to do, the introductory lesson.

After that I was unable to continue immediately as I became unwell. I was aware that you need was urgent as your daughter was struggling, so provided the contact for another experienced tutor.

I am delighted that you have a credit with First Tutors to enable you to find another tutor in the future. Neither FT nor individual tutors offer refunds for the initial payment for contact details; that is simply the way this system works.

Helen is excellent - she is conscientious, thorough and firm. She teaches my 12 year old son, who studied abroad for 9 months and is supposed to sit 13+ this autumn. She has managed to establish good channels of communication with him and, while keeping the distance, earned his respect and understanding that he should do his very best at the lessons. Highly commended.

My daughter has been using Helen only for 3 weeks and there is already a vast improvement with her assignments she has jumped 3 grades up in that time. I am so pleased to have found Helen she is an absolutely fantastic tutor and has a great way of explaining to students on a level they understand. Can't say enough she is brilliant.

my son did very well under the care of helen- he managed to gain a gcse level C prior to helen's individual care he was only managing to achieve level d + e.highly recommended. helen is very keen on ensuring the student takes responsibility for their own actions + learning has to come from them ,it has to be a joint partnership.

As a professional in my 20s struggling with written English I found Helen an excellent and supportive tutor. I greatly enjoyed my lessons with her, and her guidance has helped me to improve my work. Written English is something which I will always find hard, but the constructive feedback I received helped to take some of the stress out of writing a PhD thesis and reports for work.
