I am a caring and conscientious qualified teacher with many years teaching experience. It is important to me that my students enjoy learning whilst gaining confidence, making good progress in their studies and fulfilling their potential. I trained as a teacher, graduating with a B Ed (Hons) teaching degree. I have a current enhanced DBS check. Based on the Lizard, I am currently mainly tutoring online but will consider in person tuition.

Tutoring Experience

As well as having over 20 years experience of teaching in schools, I have over 10 years experience of providing private maths tuition up to higher tier GCSE level and have helped adult learners to achieve other maths qualifications, including maths help for Flying Aptitude Tests and helping a trainee midwife with drugs calculations.

I have been tutoring online for over 5 years and use an online whiteboard with embedded video link which works well. I have built up a range of resources to support this. My in person students who changed to online have not requested to return to in person tuition.

Tutoring Approach

I try to make each lesson friendly and relaxed, whilst maintaining high standards in learning. I tailor lessons to meet the needs of each individual student, with regard to the requirements of the student and having assessed their current abilities. I provide a range of activities to aid learning, as relevant to the requirements of each student and taking into account different learning styles. At the end of a session I like to review what has been covered, highlighting areas that need practice and discussing the next steps. I often include a brief review of the previous session at the start of the next one in order to consolidate what has been learnt and ensure understanding.
