Hi I'm a franco australian 24 year old from Belgium. I did my studies at The University of Edinburgh where I did a bachelors in Biochemistry and Management. I also did my Master's by research there (in cell biology) and I'm now working at The University of Oxford looking into the development of blood stem cells into the constituent cells of blood. Outside of my work, I enjoy photography, hiking and running/participating in DnD sessions.
This is my first real endeavour to tutoring in academic disciplines. HOWEVER; I have also had many babysitting jobs during my studies, using them to fund living expenses in university. I have also taught my brother along with a variety of cousins during their studies. On a higher level of education, one of the ways I finished university with a distinction was by working with friends. I taught them the parts I understood of the course and used this to see whether I felt I had fully taken in the subject.
Overall, I have experience in taking care of children and teaching. I look forward to being able to put it into practice.
I aim to privilege understanding before remembering by heart. Especially in the context of biology, I believe understanding to be primordial. To do this, I like to invest time in developing stories with which I can remember the facts.
On more mathematically oriented subjects, I find the easiest approach to be repetition. Taking on a new subject can be hard and I find one of the best way to understand it fully is just repeating exercises until we figure out the details of how it works.
Finally, I aim to make learning fun. Having had the luck of some fantastic and driven teachers myself, I aim to resemble them and encourage interest and passion in my students.
