I am now a Head of Sixth Form having previously been a head of Religion and Philosophy for seven years. I have been teaching ever since graduating with a MA in Philosophy, Theology and Ethics.
I have been teaching in secondary schools for over 14 years and was a head of department for 7 years. In that time I have taught the OCR and AQA RS A levels, AQA Philosophy A level and the OCR and Edexcel GCSE. In addition to this I have also tutored the Edexcel A level. I also teach the Oxford TSA entrance test so am happy to tutor that as well.
I have always put the needs of the individual student front and centre of all tutoring. It is vital that we talk about exactly what you feel you need to work on, whether it be exam technique or knowledge and understanding. From these initial discussions I will draw up a plan that will enable you to track the progress you make.
I have often found that students who seek tutoring often need a confidence boost and one of the key aims to my approach is to build your confidence so that you can perform at your best when you enter the exam hall.
It is crucial that expectations are clear from the start and I always expect high standards from my students as well as myself. Just as you should expect me to prepare for each session carefully I will expect the same from you. This is particularly vital for A level and GCSE students where I will, if appropriate, provide relevant reading and podcasts to help you deepen your knowledge and understanding.
