I am a secondary maths teacher with 18 years of experience. I have taught at all key stages from Ks3 to ks5. I have taught A-Level maths (8 years) as well as all the courses (except Applications and interpretations HL) of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) (10 years) including AA HL as well as the old 2012 specificaion Higher Level Maths course. I have taught in London for 8 years and currently work in inner London and I have also worked 10 years internationally. My career includes many roles ranging from teacher of maths to Head of Maths Department. I have served an incredibly diverse range of students and abilities. I have taught Oxbridge graduates and I would say my expertise is in teaching higher level maths courses. I can teach everything in the IB syllabus. As for A-Level maths; I can teach everything (including mechanics) with expertise and fluency except statistics, which I prefer not to teach but can if required. Over the years, I have accumulated an incredibly rich amount of resources that I now have at my disposal. I am also an IB examiner where I moderate IA (10 years experience) and mark AA SL papers. And finally, I am also an examiner for Edexcel where I mark GCSE and A-Level maths exams (17 years experience).
18 years a maths teacher including:
8 years of A-Level maths teaching.
10 years of IBDP maths including HL courses.
18 years of teaching your usual KS3 and KS4 (GCSE and IGCSE) courses.
IB examiner of IA's and AA SL exam scripts - 10 years.
Examiner for A-Level and GCSE maths exams - 17 years.
I like to analyse the needs of my students and figure out what method of teaching will work best for them. I start with standard modelling of concepts and questions but prompting the student to follow the work by careful questioning. Where required, usually at higher levels, I can model complex and high grade questions as per the requirements of my students.
