My name is Imogen and I am a friendly postgrad student in the North West of the UK. I began this tutoring journey during university and found that I really enjoyed helping students who weren't very confident in their studies. I think that's because they reminded me of myself when I was in school! I know how important it is to feel like you have support and understanding in your studies and I am here to help with that.
I am also happy to help with any humanities subjects, especially sociology, psychology and history (my A-level subjects!)
I have been a tutor for over a year, teaching both in person and online.
I also started to work as a teaching assistant in schools and as a cover supervisor. This has given me a great insight into what students are learning about today, as well as allowing me to pick the brains of the teachers to ask for advice.
I have completed level 2 TA training and am working towards level 3. I have up-to-date DBS and safeguarding training.
Lessons range from 1hr minimum to 3hrs maximum. I would recommend a 1.5-2hr slot as I find that makes sure we can make the most of our time.
My techniques as a tutor include tailoring the lesson around the specific strengths and weaknesses of the individual. I carefully plan and design my lessons so the student can work at their own pace to understand the content. I aim to build on the knowledge they have already been taught, while also focusing on obtaining a solid foundation of understanding. This also helps students build their confidence and reach their full potential.
