I am a curious and enthusiastic Modern Languages graduate from King's College London, with a passion for teaching and exploring new cultures. I grew up between Amsterdam and Scotland, and, experiencing two very different learning cultures from childhood, I have spent much of my life as a student in one capacity or another. I am passionate about music and theatre, and spent a year in Madrid to improve my Spanish, where I trained as an TEFL teacher to adults.
I have approached teaching by drawing from different aspects of my life as a student. I focus on tailoring lessons to the student, especially finding creative ways to make learning fun and effective. I believe knowledge of core rules such as grammatical structures and tenses to be invaluable, but that learning a language in context, with speaking and reading practice provides the confidence boost required for students to progress. I always strive to make learning fun and engaging and meet the student's goals.
