I am a passionate, hard-working teacher and Head of Department who thoroughly enjoys science and teaching. I graduated from the University of Manchester with a first class honours degree in Biology, with a specialist knowledge in Biochemistry. Throughout my own education I have proven myself academically able, achieving top grades in GCSE, A level and degree level examinations. I have masters in Education (Autism and SEN) from the University of Birmingham.
I teach chemistry at A-level, biology and chemistry to ages 11-16 and all three sciences at KS3. I have experience teaching and exam marking for various boards. I teach students with a wide range of abilities, ranging from gifted and talented pupils, students with English as an additional language and pupils with special educational needs.
Previously to teaching I volunteered for a charity that delivered one to one mentoring for students. The focus of the mentoring included English, Maths, Science and life skills.
I am friendly, patient and imaginative when it comes to teaching. I will keep finding different ways of explaining a concept until the individual I am teaching really gets it. I have access to a range of resources to aid in tuition, including relevant past paper questions.
Science can be a daunting subject to many students and cause them to avoid or dread revising key topics. Through engaging techniques and a love for science I aim to tackle student misconceptions and fully prepare them for their science examinations.
