Hi, my name is Ishaa and I am here to help you with your studies. I achieved a grade 7 (A) in English Literature and English Language at GCSE level and then proceeded to study A-levels in which I achieved an A* in Sociology, A in Law and A in Business Studies. These subjects all required me to use the same skills that I learnt whilst preparing for my English GCSE exams and I still use them today within my degree.
I have chosen to teach English as when I was a student I often struggled with the fact that unlike other subjects, there is no definitive answer in English. However this doesn’t mean that you can’t get a good grade in it. In fact it means that there is no wrong answer- to an extent. English Literature and Language allows you to express your creativity through using your imagination and exploring deeper meanings of texts and that is what makes it so enjoyable to teach. You just simply need to know what techniques to use and how to use them and that is what i’m here for! As soon as I figured that out, English definitely became my favourite subject and it still is today. I promise to make every tutoring session engaging and informative meaning that you will definitely benefit from them.
I have been tutoring English to GCSE students and younger for the past 12 months which means that I have been able to help several students improve their grades and boost their confidence by preparing for their upcoming exams. All of my students find my lessons fun, engaging and informative which is what I aim for in every session.
I will identify your strengths and weaknesses meaning that I will be able to provide you with specific feedback that will allow you to work on certain skills that you need to improve on and as a result you will begin to see a gradual improvement in your work. I understand that no student is the same and that every student will have their own learning technique and therefore I will tailor my tutor sessions to suit the student's learning preference.
