I am a 25 year old primary school teacher who loves history, travel and animals. My friends regard me as caring, bubbly and enthusiastic which bodes well for me as a teacher! My love for history transpires in my work as I am the current lead for History at my school. My favourite books are the Harry Potter series and the Iron Man by Ted Hughes. When I'm not at work I love to travel around London trying out different resturants and when it's the holidays I love to explore new countries and cultures. One of my main hobbies on a rainy day is watching David Attenborough documentaries and baking cakes, a perfect day in!
I am a primary school teacher and have been for the past three years. Prior to this I was a teaching assistant for four years whilst I did my history degree. I have worked in all year groups as a TA, helping and often teaching lessons from as young as Reception all the way up to Year 6. I am currently teaching Year 6 children and have conducted in-house tutoring sessions after school with my own pupils. I have planned engaging and insightful sessions, pinpointing exactly where they need support. Additionally, I have experience as class teacher in years 3 and 4 and I will be teaching Year 5 next year as I have the knowledge of where they are currently (in September) and where they need to be the following year in Year 6. During my time teaching and being a teaching assistant, I have been privy to a plethora of training and courses for both primary Maths and English across two different schools, meaning I have much insight and knowledge to provide the children I teach. Having experience as support staff and a class teacher has allowed me to gain valuable skills in helping children with all different skills and abilities, I have been a 1:1 TA with SEND children and would often lead small group interventions too.
I honestly believe a childs trust and enjoyment is the key to their own success. In my teaching approach, I will always make sure your child is happy and comfortable as learning cannot happen if children do not feel safe enough to fail. You cannot develop your learning without making mistakes, so trust is of the utmost importance to me. I will work alongside the national curriculum and your child's school curriculum to make sure my teaching reflects what they are currently learning or have learnt previously. My sessions will follow a basic format: recap, learn, check point, learn, assess. This way I can closely monitor your child's understanding and development of a topic. I will never rush your child along with something, we will never move on until they feel comfortable they have mastered it. As well as focusing on the academic side, I will mostly strive for making your child a confident, life-long learner and empowering them to be independent and successful.
