Third Year Accounting & Finance Student @ the London School of Economics.
Full A* IGCSE-equivalent, A*A*A* in A-Levels Accounting, Economics and Maths. On track to achieve 1:1 in university.
Passionate tutor with the ability to tailor study plans to students' abilities.
Teaching from a students' perspective - offer maximum flexibility and support whilst encouraging students to learn effectively on their own.
Guide students on how to make effective strategies using Spaced Repetition, Active Recall, and Feynman Methods.
Enthusiastic to instil automation in the student's learning using study tools (Graphic-Rich Flash Cards, Quizzes, and Tutoring Math Support via Group Chat!) that encourage independence yet allows parents to continuously be informed with student's performance.
Tutoring experience: 3 years of Formal Tutoring. Focus on age groups 12-17 year olds.
Volunteering experience: Teaching English & Accounting to under-privileged students in Malaysia.
Industrial experience: Summer Intern in Financial Inclusion Department, Bank of Malaysia. This experience strengthened my real-world knowledge and grasp on Accounting, allowing me to incorporate effective examples into my teaching sessions.
Before session (Onboarding): Identify students' key weaknesses, pinpoint student's expectations/ objectives (brush-up on content, or immediately get started on exam prep? I can cater to students' wants!). Build a tailored-to-individual study plan that is approved by both parents & students.
In session: Interactive teaching - student's will offer their opinion, thoughts, be able to freely ask questions and provide feedback that will help their learning. Encourage student to explain, in their own words, to broaden the understanding towards the subject context (Feynman method). Expose and guide them using past-year questions in the session to build confidence and enhance ability to answer questions in ways that will maximise marks, according to Examiner's Reports. Highlight key terms that examiners focus on thus polishing the student's answering techniques.
After sessions: Give students Flash Cards, Extra Quizzes, Past Year Practices to help Active Recall. Student is able to excise flexibility when they choose to do it and how - encourage independence so they enjoy the process thoroughly.
A Note for Parents: I hold in-session and timed "Mock Exams" for the student every once in a while, which will be communicated before-hand. The student's marks are then compiled into an Excel sheet and report is provided to the parent. This allows parents to monitor the student's performance in each topic.
