Hello, my name is Jack Ramsay. I am a professional online English language teacher. I have a TEFL qualification and earned a BA Hons from the University of Brighton. I have been teaching and tutoring English for eight years.

Tutoring Experience

As a professional online English teacher, I have taught over a hundred students of a variety of different nationalities, levels and ages: from young children that are beginners to the language, to adults hoping to become more fluent, to those needing help preparing for their IELTS exams.

Before I started working online, I spent six years years privately tutoring students in English (language and literature) and exam preparation at various levels. Whilst I was at school, I taught sessions to help younger students with reading, writing and spelling, as well as running a creative writing club.

Tutoring Approach

It is very important to me that my students feel comfortable, happy and relaxed in my lessons. I believe this makes for the best learning environment. I am a friendly, accommodating and compassionate teacher and always ensure I'm as helpful, informative and kind as possible with all my students. I'm more than happy to assist my students with anything they need. By cultivating a calm and light-hearted educational atmosphere, I aim to help build my students' confidence in English and deliver an engaging, stimulating lesson.

In my lessons, we will focus on one specific area of English, such as a part of grammar or a set of new words. We will explore this area in all aspects: writing, speaking, listening and reading. My lessons are fun as well as very informative, because I believe that we learn best when we're having fun. I like to play games with my students to help them memorise the lesson's new words and their meanings. Through a range of different activities, I help my students familiarise themselves totally with the content. I also like to help my students create English sentences of their own, in addition to having discussions with them about different topics, helping build their spoken fluency.

Every student is different and has different needs and things they wish to learn. Though I have listed several of my lesson techniques, ultimately it is about what works best for you. I like to tailor my lessons around my student's needs and deliver a lesson that is as helpful and relevant to them as possible. Whether you want to get better at writing and spelling, improve your spoken English or prepare for an exam, whatever your age, level, nationality and specific needs, I am here to help.
