I'm a fifth-year medical student at Lancaster University with a strong academic background. My A-level grades include A's in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths, showcasing my commitment to my studies. My true passion is science, with a special focus on human anatomy and physiology.
As a proactive member of a student-led teaching society within the university, I actively contribute to creating an environment for learning. My enthusiasm for education extends beyond the classroom, and I've discovered effective strategies which propelled me to excel at A-level and GCSE Biology. Techniques such as active recall and spaced repetition have helped me greatly on my journey!
In my downtime, I enjoy weight training and boxing. These interests not only keep me physically fit but also help me to stay mentally alert.
Notably, I embrace my dyslexia as a unique strength which has honed my creativity and kinaesthetic learning abilities. This attribute proves invaluable when making sense of the intricate diagrams encountered in Biology.
Having navigated the challenging process of applying to medical school firsthand, I'm fully aware of the stress it entails. I'm more than willing to share my insights and wisdom to guide you through the application process, offering a helping hand during what can be a daunting journey.
I've had previous experience tutoring though different platforms at GCSE & A-level standards for the past 3 years. At medical school, I have also been lead of the peer teaching society which holds weekly teaching sessions for students in lower year groups. I have taught multiple subjects receiving some excellent feedback!
My tutoring sessions revolve around the individual student's needs, ensuring a personalized and effective learning journey. Recognizing that everyone has their unique learning style, I'm committed to tailoring my approach to suit each student's preferences, making the process both engaging and comprehensible. Upon identifying areas that require attention, I will not only provide valuable advice but also explore with the student to discover a study technique which is personal to them!
Once we've pinpointed the aspects that need improvement, I will put together a range of questions and methods to help them grasp the fundamental concepts. I firmly believe that active testing and feedback play a pivotal role in allowing students to make progress in their chosen subjects.
In terms of Biology teaching, my lessons will provide alignment with relevant syllabuses and past paper mark schemes. This will ensure that students stay on the right track and familiarize themselves with the examination's structure. When it comes to interview techniques, my approach centers on the principle that practice makes perfect. With this in mind, I'm happy to conduct mock interviews, as I strongly believe that firsthand experience in this format is the key to success.
During my time at medical school I have developed efficient techniques to grasp various challenging concepts. A combination of effective note taking and space repetition is the key to success! Medicine is something which I'm very passionate about and I would love to share my knowledge with you!
