I am a young and dynamic freelance musician working in the Norwich area where I sing daily as a choral scholar in the Cathedral Choir. My specialism is in choral conducting, however I also hold two professional diplomas in piano. Additionally, I hold a BA in Music from the University of Oxford and and a master's in Choral Conducting from Yale University.
I have eight years experience as a one-to-one piano and music theory teacher and I have taught since 2012 at the 'Music Makers' summer courses for young musicians (piano coach) since 2012. I have also given lessons to GCSE and A Level music students looking in particular for help and advice with composition assignments.
Developing independence is central to my approach so that in time you won't need me! I see teaching as a platform to share tools that allow students to work through problems and challenges with greater ease and fluidity. For example, when studying set works for A Level analysis, instead of simply giving facts about work's form I would aim to develop a student's understanding of many types of musical form and their use in different contexts, so that the student has the power and security of knowledge to make their own judgments.
