As a professional musician, teaching, helping and introducing music to other people has been an integral part of my profession and life for as long as I can remember. Whilst I now work in the Music industry as a performer, the theory behind music was always an area I loved and spurred my interest, and not just because I found it instinctive. There is a strong link between Mathematics and Music and I found that to be the case with myself and how I thought.
I have been teaching in some form for over 10 years. I’ve taught classroom Music all round London and I’ve taught instrumental music and singing privately as well. Every single one of my Music students has gained a distinction in every exam I’ve put them forward for.
All of my Maths and Science tuition over the last 10 years has been one on one Private Tuition. I’ve helped students with 11+, Common Entrance and Scholarship exams and GCSEs. I’ve found that Electricity in Physics and Calculus and Probability in Maths have been the areas that students have struggled with the most and when teaching, finding relatable concepts has been the key – the best one of these is likening electricity to water. All of my students have gained grades when working with me.
My life as a professional Opera musician is highly varied, working with a very wide variety of people in a short space of time. I think that this experience and lifestyle gives me the ability to relate to and work with people quickly and easily making me a better Tutor.
I have around 10,000 hours of private tuition experience. I have helped students go from a 5 grade to a 9 in some cases and have never failed to improve a student result by at least one grade level. I have helped students achieve entrance to and in some cases scholarships at: Eton, Westminster, Winchester, St Pauls, Harrow and many other top schools in the UK. I am very experienced. with Common entrance, Winchester Entrance and the 11+ exams.
My approach to tutoring is entirely centred around the individual student. With extensive experience, I’ve learned that the most effective way to support a student is to meet them where they are and understand how they think. Some students thrive by developing a deep conceptual understanding, while others benefit more from learning clear, reliable methods they can apply consistently and refine through practice. I adapt my teaching style accordingly, ensuring that each student receives the kind of support that works best for them. Ultimately, my goal is always to tailor my tutoring to suit the unique needs and strengths of each learner.
