Hi I'm James! I'm currently studying medicine at King's College London and due to qualify as a doctor by 2023.

I'm able to offer biology and maths tutoring, and any advice for aspiring students wanting to pursue a future in medicine!

Tutoring Experience

Previously I have taught small study groups in the past at university and at school. I have also given talks to younger students regarding university studies and lifestyle.

Having gone through the process myself, I know it is quite daunting. The interviews are difficult, with the UKCAT and BMAT as additional hurdles. If you would like advice regarding these steps in your path towards a career in medicine, I would be happy to help!

Tutoring Approach

When I was at school, I found a lot of classes boring. Therefore, this has taught me that engagement is key to efficient learning.
Following this, I have deduced that the best approach to teaching is to make the subject as engaging as possible. This can be done through offering plenty of opportunities for questions, whilst attempting to keep subjects simple where possible. Additionally I find that using various types of analogies really help the learning process for those concepts that you just can't quite grasp straight away. Another favourite of mine are comprehension techniques, which also prove to be useful in their respective settings!

However, we all know that at the end of the day, the dreaded exams are always creeping around the corner. I am happy to help you with this! I have sat plenty of exams myself, and I will be able to answer any questions and give advice where deemed necessary.
As well as the cover and recall technique, use of past papers is also key for preparation prior to examination period, which I will be more than happy to assist with!
