James

I graduated with an Integrated Master's in Chemistry from the University of Oxford in 2021, after this I immediately began teaching at a (inter)nationally recognised private school. While teaching I also achieved a Distinction (74%) in my PGCE (teaching qualification) from the University of Buckingham.

I have a proven track record; whether it is trying to receive an offer from Oxbridge, aiming for an A* in A-levels, or trying to pass dual award science, I have worked with students of all abilities to help them with their goals. I am also experienced with tutoring/teaching students with SEND requirements, including ASD/ADHD/dyslexia.

I am far more available during the school holidays, and during these I am also able to provide intense courses over a few days if this is wanted.

Academic History:
PGCE with QTS with Distinction from The University of Buckingham.
Integrated Master's from Oxford in Chemistry.
A-Levels: Chemistry A*, Physics A*, Maths A.
AS: Chemistry A, Physics A, Maths A, Philosophy A.
GCSEs: A* in Chemistry, Physics, Maths, I.C.T., French, Biology
A in English Lit, English Lang, History, RS

Tutoring Experience

Chemistry Teacher for four years.
Chemistry Tutor for five years.

Tutoring Approach

For Interview Preparation we will go through the most common questions, and a lot of first year University level material. For KS3 to A-Level, I mainly focus on past paper questions as due to the repeitive nature of A-Level and GCSE exams, I fundamentally believe past paper questions are the best way to learn, as not only do you increase your own knowledge, you can also semi-rote learn mark schemes. This pathway also greatly increases exam technique. However, if fundamental gaps in knowledge become apparent on particular topics, we will go over the specific topics.

I also regularly review recent literature surrounding the sciecne of learning (pedagogy) and this enables me to remain up to date with my teaching methods.
