Private Maths and English Tutor in Cambridge

I am a third-year student at the University of Oxford. I have been tutoring for 3 years. I tutor History A Level alongside personal statement, interview, and entrance exams for humanities at Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.

I can also tutor both humanities and sciences at GCSE level. I have lots of experience teaching GCSE English and Maths.

Tutoring Experience

I have helped three students gain a place at the University of Oxford to read History, PPE, and Archaeology and Anthropology. I tutored primary school, GCSE and A-Level Maths, primary and GCSE English, GCSE Spanish, A Level Chemistry and Secondary Cchool science. I also spent 6 months teaching English as a Foreign Language in Colombia and Argentina with larger class sizes.

Tutoring Approach

With older students, I replicate the Oxbridge 'tutorial' teaching style in which the student must arrive at the answer themselves, with careful guidance. This allows them to fully understand concepts by thinking them through critically. My main aim with younger students is to ensure that they develop an interest in the subject and cover the foundations securely. I try to develop a relationship with the student, where I am familiar with their hobbies or extracurricular interests, and then build them into the session.
When exams are the primary objective for my tutoring sessions, I focus heavily on mark schemes, past papers, and examiner reports. Working backwards from the mark scheme is the only way to ensure top grades at GCSE and A Level.
