Are you worried about your child's progress in Maths or English? Do you want your child to go to a Grammar School? Would you like your child to achieve their potential? I can help.
I am an enthusiastic teacher who has a wide range of experience as a teacher, headteacher and an SEN Adviser with primary aged children. I love seeing children progress and become more confident in areas in which they have previously struggled. I keep myself constantly informed of new and exciting ways to motivate children and achieve their potential.
Exceptional Teaching, in my opinion, is a natural craft that some people have and others simply don't. I come from a family of teachers (my mother and also my sisters are teachers). It is a profession I have always enjoyed and have a special passion for. The bonus of course, is excellent grades.
I have been in education for over 25 years, as a teacher, a Headteacher and an SEN Adviser. I have been fortunate enough to work in a range of excellent schools where I have taught all year groups. I pride myself in being able to help children, whatever their needs or abilities, to love learning and achieve their potential. I have tutored 1-1 for the last five years and have good relationships with the children and families that I work with. These children have gone on to achieve excellent results in their chosen areas e.g. improved confidence, improved attainment, achieving SATS levels 4 and 5 and succeeding in entrance exams for Grammar, Wide-ability and Independent schools.
My personal attitude towards all learning (especially tutoring) is that all children are entitled to a high quality education, which is tailored towards children's individual needs, so that they are able to make sufficient progress and enjoy their learning. I approach tutoring with a positive, can do attitude. I tailor each session to the individual child's strengths, weaknesses, interests and goals. I believe anyone can do well; it's just a question of finding the right way to learn it. One of the things that I find prevents children and adults from learning, particularly Mathematics, is the feeling of being rubbish at it. Your mindset certainly influences how well you do and once you are relaxed you learn so much better. I employ a combination of direct approaches and child-centered approaches when giving individual tutoring support. I am a very committed person, and will always strive to make sure that all children who are tutored are able to achieve their potential.
I am flexible, friendly and approachable person, having a key commitment towards high quality teaching and learning for all children. I firmly believe that different people learn in different ways, so no one way will suit all. You probably know more than you think, we will just work to make sure it can all be communicated. I look forward to discussing your child and how I can help and develop their potential.
