A mature student having recently received an offer to study mathematics at the University of Cambridge, after a short sports career. I have a genuine passion for teaching and sharing the knowledge I've worked so hard to acquire. I am self-taught which helps me to appreciate the challenge of learning maths from the student's perspective. I'm also a member of the Mensa high IQ society, which is reflected in my ability to find creative ways of explaining challenging concepts.
I recently achieved grades 1,1 in STEP, and also a score of 87% in the MAT - the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford mathematics entrance examinations respectively. I am able to offer a high standard of support for students wishing to prepare for these extremely challenging exams.
I have several hundred hours of tutoring experience having helped several students to achieve the GCSE and A-level grades they were aiming for.
I aim for an interactive tutoring style, making sure that every explanation is calibrated to the frame of reference of the student, and only proceed when each stage of working has been thoroughly understood. I have a website where I have created lots of materials to help students prepare for maths exams and I give homework assignments through the site. I also give general exam advice and motivational talks where appropriate.
Please note that I am currently only available for tutoring STEP and MAT, and am only offering tutoring online.
