Hello, I'm James - a tutor in GCSE Maths and below. With a background in Engineering, maths and science, I am now a data analyst part time, as well as a tutor.
It might be useful to know that I'm a "career coach" for some colleagues at work too. This means I've had a lot of experience guiding people into careers that they enjoy and are fulfilling. If you want advice on that sort of thing too, you can let me know.
As for maths tuition - I keep everything simple, realistic, and relaxed. Everyone learns differently, so I go into every session with an open mind and and no expectations. Flexibility it also key - rather than sticking to a timetable, we can base each session on whatever feels right on the day. Homework usually dictates that, but sometimes learning a different thing altogether can just keep it interesting.
I'm also transparent when it comes to achieving outcomes:
Do you want to pass an exam? Ok - Let's focus on past exam papers and this year's syllabus. That way we can guess what questions are going to be asked.
Do you want to understand maths more generally? Great, it doesn't matter what the exam looks like, you'll be well prepared for any outcome.
