I am very enthusiastic and friendly and I love working with children and young adults. I am very organised and I ensure every session is thoroughly planned and resourced to meet the needs of each student. I believe in working closely with parents and children to discuss progress and set the next steps in learning. Through ongoing assessments, observations and questioning. I establish the student’s strengths, weaknesses, gaps in knowledge and skills, and how he/she learns best and use this information to plan the following sessions.
I am a fully qualified British trained Primary teacher (QTS) with over 30 years experience teaching in primary schools. I have taught throughout the entire Primary age and have a lot of skills to offer. I am currently teaching part time in a London primary school. Also, I have taught children with English as an Additional Language for 10 years and have an additional TEFL qualification.
I tutor maths, English and science to primary age children. Additionally, I tutor maths to secondary school students. I focus on different areas within the subjects, depending on the needs of the student. In English this includes: word reading, phonics, reading comprehension, spoken language, writing, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. In maths this includes: numeracy, times tables, number facts, mathematical reasoning and problem solving.
