Personal Description:
I have over twenty years experience in teaching, and it is a career that I am really passionate about. This experience and dedication to teaching makes me an outstanding teacher of English Language and Literature, Literacy and Modern Greek, due to being bilingual. I have extensive experience spanning all levels of ability and age groups.
I use highly innovative methods and I am constantly keeping up to date with current teaching methodologies, including using ICT for teaching and learning purposes. I believe in catering to each student's individual needs and as a result I have a brilliant success rate with a range of students from different backgrounds and needs.
I have a BA 2.1 Hons degree in English Language and Literature, an MA in Historical Language Studies and I started doing a Ph.D in Classical Greek studies. I have done a PGCE and I am also a published poet.
I have vast experience in teaching in many contexts. I have taught in Secondary Schools, Language Schools and in Adult Education. I also taught English in a Nursery School for two years. So, I have taught students of all age groups, ranging from 4 to late 80's, from various backgrounds and learning needs.
I have twenty years teaching English Language, Literature and Literacy skills to all age groups and at all levels. I also have ten years teaching Modern Greek to various age groups, as I am bilingual.
I have prepared students for exams with a very high success rate and I have been highly recommended to other students by people I have taught in the past.
My course of tutorials always begin with with initial and diagnostic assessments and a conversation with the student to ensure that I know what the needs are and what is expected from the course. I create various activities and use differentiated resources that suit individual needs and requirements. I create all my own materials according to the students' needs, interests and syllabus.
I also provide lessons via Skype, which is useful if a student has any enquiries or needs further support.
