Hi I'm Jasmine, a second year undergraduate student studying English Literature and Comparative Literary Studies at the University of Warwick. English Literature has always been a passion of mine and having scored an A* in A Level English I've established a way of both enjoying English Literature as a subject but also developing a technique to do well at exams. Aside from an interest in English Literature, I'm a keen musician who loves to sing, play the piano, ukulele and guitar.
I have tutored English and French to GCSE students, tutored my younger cousins as well as tutoring my own peers at GCSE and A Level English. I love working with kids and have been involved in schemes to encourage children to read more as well directing children in plays such as the Canterbury Tales.
My approach to tutoring is I will base our lessons on the student's syllabus. Furthermore, I will gain a sense of the student's favourite texts that they have studied or read and give them other texts to read and analyse. Through this I will help the student develop a technique to approach texts and to write about them in the time pressured context of an exam. I will teach them how to write about texts more thematically as well as with detailed close analysis. The lessons will also be shaped around the student's strengths and weaknesses. We will be looking at exam past papers, gaining an understanding of what the mark scheme requires the student to do. I will help the student to plan exam questions as well as giving them feedback for essays they will write. Furthermore, I will help the student decode any feedback they might receive from their school teacher.
