I work full- time in a local school which means I am fully aware of the changing curriculum and the current methods/techniques and skills which children are asked to use.
Having three children of my own also means that I am aware of the personal, social and emotional needs of individual children.
I have a fully enhanced DBS, am First aid and Mental Health trained.
I am have been teaching for 26 years and still thoroughly enjoy my job. I am a fun, energetic, yet focused teacher/tutor with high expectations. In my recent lesson observation I was graded as an 'Outstanding' teacher. I have lots of experience teaching children with Specific Learning Difficulties and SEND. I am also able to support and prepare children with the 11 + exams. Teaching English is my specialism, particularly reading and writing. However, I also achieve very good maths results and have a wealth of resources to break down learning into small steps.
I strongly believe children learn best when they are active in their learning and challenged at their own level. Children need time and patience from a tutor. I enjoy teaching through games as well as using more formal assessments. I have a fun personality so get along well with my students.
I am able to help children with their school homework, as well as setting them extra homework if required.
