ON-LINE TUITION. I am a teacher and photographer with thirty years teaching experience in 6th-Form; FE; and HE. I have taught theory and practical film; theory and practical media; cultural studies; English; EPQ; and a range of interdisciplinary aspects of A-level; BTEC; Access; and undergraduate subject areas. I have a First Class degree in English Literature and a Masters (with Distinction) in Film History. I have a wide range of experience with exam syllabus content, and have worked as an examiner for over twenty years on GCSE and A-level courses; this means I know precisely what the exam boards are looking for and support my students accordingly. I have an excellent track record of supporting individuals in achieving their aspirational results. I am a calm and supportive teacher who can offer excellent 1-2-1 tuition. On average, students have improved by at least 2 grades whilst working with me online over the last six years I have been working as a personal tutor.
I can also offer support with proofreading and editing work at all levels, including postgraduate and professional. For guidance, this work on average takes 1 hour per 1000 words.
Please note:
- stated payment rate is per hour of my time used. This applies to in-person tutoring; online support (eg Zoom); email feedback advice/guidance to the student; or a combination of all three
- payment for sessions should be made at the end of a session, whether in person or online, or within 24-hours of a session’s completion. Failure to pay on time adds considerably to my administration costs, as time is wasted tracking payments down. I strive to keep my costs low, despite my experience and knowledge, but can only continue to do this if students are prompt payers.
- missed sessions, with no notice or contact, will be charged for. Sessions can be cancelled and rearranged with good prior notice (24 hours) without a charge applying.
