I am a primary school teacher with experience of teaching Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6) for the previous nine years.
I am passionate about education and making a difference to the lives of young people through quality first teaching, whilst developing a positive rapport that is based on mutual trust and respect.
I live in Coventry with my wife and two children, who are aged 1 and 3.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, drawing, painting, playing badminton and going to the cinema. I am also bilingual. I can fluently read, write and speak Punjabi.
My teaching career commenced in September 2010 when I was employed as a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) within a junior school in Solihull. In total, I worked at this school for 6 six years. During this time, I taught Year 5 for one year, Year 3 for two years and Year 6 for three years.
After six fantastic and incredibly rewarding years at my first school, I made the decision to move to a school that was closer to home in Coventry. Since working here, I have had the opportunity to work for a further two years in Year 6 and I am currently teaching Year 5. In addition to my full time teaching responsibilities, I am also responsible for the leadership and management of art and design and Pupil Premium across the whole school.
During my time at my current school, I have had the opportunity to further my professional development by
undertaking the Outstanding Teacher Programme. I am also currently completing my National Professional Qualification for Middle Leaders.
My approach to tutoring is one that is based on a positive rapport and mutual respect.
At the heart of my philosophy is understanding the individual needs of my students. This is vital so that I am able to provide programmes of work that are tailored and adapted to meet individual needs of each student.
Having taught in Year 6 for a total of five years, I have a very good understanding of the standards and skills that students need to develop in order to sit their SATs tests.
As a full time classroom teacher, I understand the importance of making learning fun so that it becomes a memorable experience for my students.
Through a positive and nurturing approach, I endeavour to motivate my students to reach their full potential and develop their confidence.
