Hi there, I'm Jen, mum, teacher, English tutor, specialist dyslexia tutor and avid dog lover. I have been a class teacher in primary schools since 2003 having taught in all key stages. I worked initially in London, then moved across to Hong Kong to teach in two International Schools before moving back to London to become a SENDCO. I currently hold and enhanced DBS, First Aid in Mental Health.
I have worked as a SENDCo in London for two primary schools and for a local authority supporting autistic pupils on roll in mainstream schools to help them to re-engage with education. Over the years I have developed a passion for supporting pupils with SEND, specifically ASC, ADHD and Dyslexia having gained a Masters in Inclusion and Special Educational Needs which is why I decided to become a tutor! I now focus my time and energy into creating bespoke lessons to enable children to grow in confidence as a learner. My lessons are multisensory and engaging for the child and focus on improving confidence.
I love to see the progress pupils make during my lessons and I love to bring fun into everything I do. Each lesson is individually planned with the child's specific needs in mind. I am passionate about creating bespoke lessons that engage and excite the learner using their personal interests that grab their attention.
I can offer catch up English tuition for primary pupils, phonics catch up for KS1 pupils, creative writing, comprehension support or KS2 SATS prep.
In addition to this, I offer specialist dyslexia tuition using a multi-sensory approach to teaching reading, writing and spelling so that pupils use personal areas of strength to aid their learning. Each specialist lesson aims to build self esteem and confidence using coaching techniques. I am a trained executive function coach so if I feel a pupil needs support in this area I will speak to parents about adding this into the lesson. I take time at the end of each lesson to feedback to parents due to the bespoke nature of the lesson. I’m due to complete my specialist dyslexia training soon.
