Jess has helped me so much this year. I am very thankful that I have managed to get A* for A-Level Japanese with her help and tutoring. Jess is very nice and approachable, and she knows about the A-level exam very well. I will definitely recommend Jess to anyone who is interested in taking A-level or GCSE Japanese.

Jessica is an amazing Japanese tutor, with academic and real-life exchange experience with the language. She is great at tailoring her lessons towards different aims, proficiencies, and purposes, and supportive with getting out there to travel and volunteer, and in preparing for GCSE, A-Level, or JLPT examinations.

I love that Jessica writes her own textbooks for lessons and sets her own exercises for optional homework, and how she approaches correcting mistakes and introducing entirely new concepts that are often far removed from their closest English-language equivalents. Jessica is always prompt with answering e-mail queries, and had responded to me on FirstTutors and accepted me as a student all in less than a couple of hours.

In not even a handful of months, I've gone from feeling frustrated with Duolingo to working on GCSE-level translation exercises. I look forward to working with and learning more from Jessica every week and could not be happier.

Jess built a good relationship with my daughter (which isn't always easy!) and did a tremendous job of teaching and motivating her such that she passed her A-Level Japanese with an A*. Jess was easy to work with and I'd recommend her highly if you have a teenager studying Japanese.

Jessica has recently started tutoring my 14yr old daughter with a view to taking GCSE Japanese and I cannot rate her highly enough. She has a lovely calm and positive approach, putting even shy students at ease. The materials she has created for her teaching are outstanding; both technically thorough and also fun for the learner. Jess is a fabulous tutor - organised and engaging.

My daughter (with no previous knowledge of the language) joined the school after everyone else had been learning the language for a year. After 10 lessons over a summer, Jess was able to get her to a point to be confident enough to fit in with her peers, as well to be able to really enjoy the language,

Jess was very professional in both her email responses and in lesson. She was very accommodating in her introductory lesson and was clearly very knowledgeable. Would reccomend to anyone if you are looking to learn Japanese.

Jess has been helping my daughter prepare for her Japanese GCSE. The exercises and tips she provides greatly improved her writing. My daughter says Jess is very quick with marking past exams and gives helpful feedback. I found Jess to be very lively, very experienced and overall, an excellent teacher. I would recommend her to anyone preparing for GCSEs.

Jess has been a great tutor and has made each lesson interesting and fun to do. The lessons were engaging with different resources and fun quizzes. Would highly recommend, and will come back to Jess when time permits again.

I’ve tried various tutors for different activities over the years (including any Primary/Secondary/Tertiary education) and Jess is definitely the best tutor I’ve ever had.

Although she has taken the time to put together a clear learning pathway, Jess takes the time to focus on any information you bring to the session. It keeps me passionate and excited to meet with Jess on a bi-weekly basis - I know I’ll come away from the session with exactly what I wanted to know!

Beyond that, Jess is extremely warm, intelligent and caring - she’ll always take the time to check in, and then help to translate those activities to Japanese!

Jess’ sessions always feel like catching up with a friend, but I walk away realising I walk away with all the information I wanted to know. She truly is the definition of a ‘sensei.’

Jess is a very good teacher . My daughter has improved a lot and was able to get inArts Ed and got very high score in her Lamda exams thanks to Jess teaching.

My daughter has been working with Jess for the past two months to further her in-school learning of Japanese. Jess is great about explaining material in a variety of ways and is also enthusiastic about the subject and making each weekly session unique. While we intended to do in-person tutoring, as a result of the lockdown the weekly lessons have been by video and that has worked well. We would definitely recommend Jess!

Great for language competence, but also language confidence.

Jess is an Excellent tutor. I have studied other languages but japanese always appeared daunting, but after meeting with Jess i feel confident that i can learn Japanese.

A Well structured lesson, combined with a passion for the history and culture of Japan, Jess breathes new life into teaching languages.

Her flexibility and understanding of costs is what put her above other tutors in this field, awaiting lesson three, and already i am really enjoying the experience!

We love Jess! She is a terrific tutor for my son (age 12) who studies Japanese AND has Jess also for the occasional coaching in Musical Theatre. Jess focuses on speaking skills with him and she makes it fun and interesting. She’s reliable, personable, incredibly bright, organised, and overall simply wonderful and positive. She’s just the best.
