I am 35 and an English and Pupil Support teacher in the Falkirk council area. I studied English for four years at university straight from school. After working in the care sector for 4 years I decided to retrain as a teacher in 2015. I have availability after school hours, in the evenings and at the weekend.
I have 9 years of teaching experience. In that time I have taught the BGE at stages 2, 3 and 4 as well as teaching National 4 and 5 and Higher. I also have some experience in supporting the production of dissertations at Advanced Higher.
I also currently work with pupils with a range of additional support needs who have difficulty attending school and attaining qualifications.
I also have a background in supporting adults and children with learning difficulties.
My approach to teaching is pupil centred. I am a flexible, approachable and motivated teacher who encourages a love of literature and communication in learners. I believe with tutoring it is essential to cater your lessons to the needs of the learner in front of you and that flexibility and adaptability are central to building a positive relationship.
I will also provide quality feedback that will help young people to understand clearly what their next steps are in any aspect of their course. Quality feedback and dialogue is the best tool for enabling learners to improve their work.
