Hello! I’m Joana, I’m a undergrad student at City Uni of London studying Criminology with Sociology. After my degree I will be completing my teacher training to become a primary teacher. I have always had a passion for learning and I believe that education is one of the most valuable things we have in our lives. It’s very important to always keep learning.
I am able to teach any subject at primary level and History, Religious Education and Business at GCSE and A level.
I have completed an internship through the Diocese of Westminster in primary teaching as well as volunteering every week this school year at a local primary school. I have delivered my own lessons and worked closely one to one with a range of educational needs/levels. I am very well versed in teaching, especially at primary level.
I take a very discussion based and collaborative approach to teaching. I believe it is very important to ensure that the students understand what they are learning. Discussing the content allows for any questions to be answered and for everyone to be on the same page. I also enjoy using worksheets, often coming up with my own answers. I go through questions with the students and allow them to complete some on their own whilst being there to support them if they require any additional support. Games and videos are equally as helpful to engage learners, however this depends on the student and every lesson will be catered towards individual needs.
