Hello! I’m Jo. I’m from Dorchester but have previously lived in London and Vietnam. I enjoy travelling, reading and keeping active.
I have 11 years experience teaching Primary school. I have taught all years from Reception to Year 6, with more recent experience in upper KS2. I have mainly taught in London but I also worked for a few years teaching in an international school in Vietnam.
I have experience working with a wide range of SEN needs such as dyslexia and dyscalculia. I have also worked with many children with ASD as well as children who are learning English or speak English as a second language.
I have taught several years in Year 6 and have particular knowledge of KS2 SATs. I have up to date experience of the SATS tests for reading, grammar, as well as Maths. I am also passionate about building confidence and enjoyment of writing.
I believe that children should feel good about their learning, so finding a method that works for them is key. I use a range of resources in my teaching to solidify understanding. I always seek to find out what interests the child, and base learning around that. If children are interested, they are much more likely to learn!
