Tutoring Experience

I have 8+ years primary school teaching experience. I am a maths coordinator within my school and focus my maths teaching around the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence and conceptual understanding of number and mathematical processes. I can also provide support for literacy, identifying gaps in knowledge for writing and can tailor sessions to practice and apply these.

Tutoring Approach

My belief is that learning should be fun, engaging and direct. Creating a positive relationship with the leaner to both myself and maths is key! My experience within the primary field allows me to tailor my tutoring to the benchmarks of the Scottish curriculum, identify gaps in knowledge/misconceptions and through summative and formative assessments can solidify learners knowledge of number. Maths is fun and a careful mixture of engaging activities and maths and numeracy aids builds confidence and success.
