Hey! I'm Joe - a 23 year old Marine Biology researcher at the University of Plymouth. Part of my position here includes teaching at various biology and genetics practical, providing a 1-to-1 and group assistive role to 1st-3rd year Marine Biology students. I feel this puts me in the perfect spot to be able tutor GCSE to A-Level students. What I don't have in years of experience, I make up for in the position I find myself in. I'm deeply experienced in the field of biology, but still able to connect with students - especially ones who might find it hard to engage in teacher-class scenarios!
I teach marine biology at the University of Plymouth in an assistive role.
Ashwell as this, I have an upper first class honours in marine biology, and am currently undergoing a research masters.
I try to lean into the fact that I am much younger than most tutors and teachers, most see this as a hinderance, but I see it as a serious positive! In my personal life I am very chatty and love to bring this into my teaching. Making learning a two-way thing - and helping students truly engage. Not by throwing my years of experience and knowledge at them, but rather by having a conversation, and understanding their needs.
