I have an Masters degree in Chemistry from the University of Leeds. and a Ph.D. from the University of Leeds in Mechanical Engineering. I also have a post graduate teaching qualification when I achieved the status of Fellow (FHEA) In recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in higher education.
certificate. Fellowship reference (PR238306) Fellowship, 2022. This enhanced my teaching and lecturing across a variety of modules, often including group working with my supervision. I've also been a personal tutor for all undergraduate and masters level students and find 1-2-1 teaching to be most effective.

Tutoring Experience

Experience lecturer (Uni of Sheff) and personal tutor, having taught during the lockdown I'm very familiar with online learning and best practice.
I consistently achieve great feedback from students on teaching via ‘tellUs’ survey data specific to my teaching on modules.
Sustainable Engineering Design the cohort answered questions in a bank related to only my teaching and the scores ranged from 4.3-4.5 (out of 5) and responses were between 83-100% ‘favourable’.

Engineering Commercial Success- And making the world a better place!teaching scores via ‘tellUs’ where again broadly positive with responses ranging from 4.5-4.6 out of 5 from questions related to my teaching and with 87.1-96.8% ‘favourable’ feedback.

● Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) since 2022.
● Taught : 3rd Year Group Design Project as a group mentor; lectured on modulus : 'Sustainable Engineering' and 'Interfingering commercial success'.

I have also supervised and examined both undergraduate and taught post graduate final year projects. I am also a pastoral tutor for students in from years 1-4.
I supervised 3 PhD students with weekly meetings and feedback on reports.
Created new content for modules to facilitate ‘blended learning’ / e-learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. E-learning tools are very effective and provide an interactive experience.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is always tailored to the learner. Initially, I like to build confidence in the session by introducing myself in an approachable manner. In 1-2-1 sessions I endeavour to find which part of a subject excites the learner most. This enables me to help them build on there knowledge from here. I build on 'Bloom's taxonomy' as a teaching approach, the modified 6 pillars of learning have been an excellent approach to 1-2-1 and small group learning sessions.
